Dr. Moosa Khoory

Board Member

Dr. Moosa Tariq Khoory is a member of various Sharia Boards and Committees in the UAE in the sectors of Islamic banking, Islamic insurance (Takaful) and Islamic Financial Market. Moosa is the ex-Group Head of Internal Sharia Audit at Dubai Islamic Bank, and is also the Founder Chairman of the “Sharia Professionals Association”. He has also been a member of AAOIFI’s Governance and Ethics Board, and AAOIFI’s Education Board. Moosa is a member of the Consultancy Board at University of Sharjah’s College of Sharia and Islamic Studies and Al-Qassimia University’s College of Sharia and Islamic Studies. Moosa holds PhD in Islamic Finance from Durham University and dual Master’s Degree in Islamic Law & Legal Theory from University of Sharjah and Masters in International Business Law from Paris 2 University.

Dr. Azzedine Benzeghiba

Dr. Ezzedine Ben Zaghib is a prominent scholar of Islamic jurisprudence and Islamic manuscript heritage with extensive expertise in the objectives of Shariah and Islamic financial transactions. He holds two PhDs in Islamic Sciences from the University of Ez-Zitouna, Tunisia, specializing in Usul al-Fiqh (the principles of Islamic jurisprudence) and Maqasid al-Shariah (the objectives of Shariah). He served as Chairman of the Fatwa and Shariah Supervisory Board at Al Salam Bank, Algeria, for 18 years, and positions in the Shariah Supervisory Board of Takaful and Real Estate companies. He is also a member of the Standards Committee of the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI). He is also an honorary member of the Fiqh Academy of India and a member of numerous advisory and editorial boards across the Muslim world. Dr. Ben Zaghib has authored numerous books, over 30 academic papers, and over 250 articles on Islamic law, objectives of Shariah, Islamic finance, Takaful insurance, and other topics, making him a leading voice in contemporary Islamic and economic studies.
